def leppard!!!, live 8 (political tangent), boys and girls at clubs (respect tangent)

def lep got some major coverage as part of the live 8 show in philly yesterday. unfortunately i don't really agree with live 8 - reducing poverty is a very admirable goal ... but global welfare by cancelling all debts and increase aid to poor nations (ok - reducing trade restrictions i do agree with) just seems like a bad idea to me. welfare doesn't work well on the local level. how is it going to be better on the global level? plus, ya, i'm self-centered .... but i really think we need to take care of ourselves and neighbors first before we try to solve problems on the other side of the globe.

anyway ... that was a tangent ... back to def leppard!! very cool that they got to play yesterday. if bon jovi can have a renaissance, why can't def lep? and on top of live 8 ... tray and i went out last night - started off at parris. dj pulls out 'no matter what'. the DJ pulled out something by def lep that wasn't 'pour some sugar on me'????? no way! i had to double check ... so i go ask him who does the song. tells me it was originally badfinger, but this was a cover. he offered me $10 if i could tell him who did the cover. thought he was some hot shot with that one. the look on his face was priceless - he did cheese out on the bet, though.

so ... parris was boring. band (flavor) was getting ready to go on and there were 5 people in the club that weren't employees. we bailed and went to tequila rain. not a huge fan of djs, but they pull out some of the most random stuff (vanilla ice, ice baby ... ) there. i don't know if i'm just getting old or what, but i'm getting really sick of the boys with the gropy hands. didn't their mother's teach them ANY manners??? ended up meeting a nice guy to dance with for a bit (scotty - figures he's from toronto *sigh* - in town to see the sox as part of a baseball road trip with some friends) which meant i got saved from most of the gropy boys but tray wasn't as lucky.

to the boys out there ... some basic rules:
1. when you are too drunk to stand, you are too drunk to dance
2. do not grab any part on a girl if you have not at least made eye contact with her and gotten a smile
3. if you do get the smile ... do not touch any body parts you wouldn't touch in front of your mother unless the girl takes the lead
4. dancing in a club is *not* sex ... do not try to have sex with us through our clothes
5. do NOT try to remove any article of clothing for us at the club!!!

maybe it's the fault of some girls ... giving boys the impression the all girls are willing to get on stage for a wet t-shirt contest and flash the crowd. not all of us are like that. some of us do like to dress sexy and are fully capable of blowing your mind (probably well more capable of it than those drunk bachelorettes pretending to be strippers on the stage), but we are a lot more respectable than that and you're not gonna find out how amazing we are until you stop treating us like the trashy chicks. of course, if all you want is the trash chick ... she's on stage flashing - go for it and let me know how that works out for ya.

and the stripper wanna be bachelorettes .... damn. and guys get blasted for bachelor parties with strippers (please note - i don't approve of bachelor parties with hookers 'entertaining' non-single guys) that is so much more innocent than becoming a stripper for your bachelorette party.
